Looking to place a pet in a home?
Animal welfare groups in central Ohio receive many requests for help in placing animals every day. These requests not only come from Good Samaritans who are rescuing animals in need. They also come from owners who can no longer care for their animals. A common thread in nearly all of those requests is the effort to try and find new homes instead of going to the humane society and risking euthanasia.
If you're having a difficult time finding help, it's actually quite normal. A limited number of groups can only handle so many animals and the end result is often a frustrated person who simply wants to help an animal in need.
If this sounds like you, we suggest you download & read the Best Friend's guide on How to find homes for homeless pets. It's chock full of tips and ideas on how to find the best homes, how to reach people, and even how to screen potential adopters!
If you're surrendering your pet because of health or behavior problems, we urge you to explore some alternatives before you give your animal up. Best Friends also has a large online library with resources, articles, messageboards & ideas for how to deal with and treat these problems. Capital Area Humane Society also has a local, automated number to help you through behavior problems (614) 777-0567.
